This was modeled after Roman monuments and was the gate to be used for formal entry for launches, delivering guests from larger yachts anchored in deeper water. There was to be a drawbridge within the opening to provide a promenade on the embankment of the Swan Pond but the project was still incomplete when all work ceased.
