They must have heard about my piloting abilities -- and put me in charge

Sackets Harbor was the center of American naval and military operations on Lake Ontario during the war of 1812. We took the self guided tour which included the Commandant's House furnished to the 1860s; and the lieutenant's house which was three stories and the basement which was the kitchen. The "servants" were kept on the 3rd floor with no heat. They were all women between the ages of 21 - 27 from Ireland and England. This picture was taken in one of the "Shipwrecks on Lake Ontario" museum.
