Sackets Harbor Battlefield (War of 1812)

We stumbled upon this gentleman training two new recruits for their Sackets Bay Historical Battlefield enactments. The captain was more than willing to share his 27 year experience with this group. He was very knowledgeable. Ron was interested about the weight and feel of the musket and he was given many pointers on loading, discharging, cleaning the weapon. Ron said it was quite heavy and a lot longer than anticipated. So the weight distribution creates a need to really extend the arm to support the weapon. Not a bad way to spend a Father's Day!
