Why this picture?

Now, for the next entry, you have to prepare. Take your bottom lip and protrude it out slightly. Now tilt it down just a bit. Bow the head a twinge and roll the shoulders forward. Then say: Grounded! And there ya' have it. It was my day at the helm (no surprises there). We were on a VERY straight part of the canal. So straight, you could SLEEP if you dared to and the one NOT piloting, probably will. I had it on automatic pilot and was doing about 9 m.p.h. (we're no longer in knots -- we've changed to statute miles some time back). We both saw a "twig" in the channel and both of us deemed it nothing. But up closer, it was something PLUS! It was a dead head and it was nasty. I hit the -10 degree quickly BUT as I was coming round, another deadhead was just below the surface and I hit the -10 again. By the time it took me to say, or even think: "Ooooo @##$##," Ron had her reduced speed, auto disengaged, and we were in reverse, all inside of seconds -- and while we just kissed the rocks, and the mud came up in large dark swirls, she was still mostly floating and we backed out and bow thrusted to safety. Did I learn a powerful lesson! Without Ron's quick response time, it would have really been learning the lesson the hard way! I am filled with gratitude tonight, and learned too that being behind the wheel is no time to get complacent. The rest of the "twigs" will be given my full attention.
